Steel Magnolias

“On Wednesday evening, October 8, 2014,

The Steel Magnolias of San Marcos, Texas, will present a fully choreographed, upbeat concert of Southern Gospel Music at the Community United Methodist Church, Williams, AZ, at 7 p.m.,” announces Bill Martin, Pastor. There is no admission charge and we invite you to come.

The Steel Magnolias will be on their 2014 Fall Tour and have been invited by Son Broadcasting, KCHF, for a live TV broadcast in Santa Fe, New Mexico, as well as nineteen other venues throughout Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona, where they will be singing, as well as here at our own church. All engagements on tour are on their website’s ministry schedule. They will be presenting a total of twenty concerts on this 10 day venture.

The Steel Magnolias are filled with “electric excitement” for the Lord. We praise God for their commitment to Him and willingness to serve. These ladies are the epitome of Christ-like grace and love. They share a bond that few people will ever know.

If you’ve never seen The Steel Magnolias, you won’t believe your eyes, and you will certainly be clapping your hands, snapping your fingers, stomping your feet, and maybe even let out a “whoop” now and then. It’s a program you won’t want to miss of some of the most recent exhilarating gospel music being sung.

The Steel Magnolias have presented benefit concerts in Brooklyn, New York, for a church damaged extensively by lightning; a concert on the seawall in Galveston, Texas, working alongside the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team after Hurricane Ike devastated the island, and helping First Baptist Church Galveston rebuild damaged areas of the church; presented a benefit concert for fire victims in Bastrop, Texas; a concert in West, Texas, where a fertilizer plant exploded, leaving twenty families in the hosting church without homes, and in Moore, OK, where a tornado destroyed the city. These ladies have had opportunity to minister to folks in all these cities at a time of despair, but were able to share a message of hope in Jesus Christ.

In the past few years, this gospel singing group of women was invited by Lifeway Christian Resources to sing at Glorieta, New Mexico for Seniors Week, and again at Ridgecrest, North Carolina for the same annual conference.

The Steel Magnolias not only love singing for their Lord, but they want to be involved in the community and help where they can. They’ve raised over $10,000 and collected 4500 lbs. of food for their county food bank. They presented God and Country Celebrations throughout Central Texas honoring Veterans, Active Military and 1st Responders, raising $25,000 for the Wounded Warriors of Operation Comfort based in San Antonio, Texas.

The Steel Magnolias returned last September 2013 from a 16 day tour to Louisville, KY, covering six states and 3100 miles, where they had opportunity to present concerts at the National Quartet Convention at a staging area in Freedom Hall of the Kentucky Exposition Center. Nearly 800 people gathered every afternoon as they presented a 90 minute concert four days in a row. They also sang on the Main Plaza of the Grand Ole Opry and were invited to sing for the Pastors’ Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. The Steel Magnolias have traveled through nearly half of The United States covering the South, Mid-west, Northeast and East Coast. The Lord has blessed them tremendously, keeping them healthy as they are willing and ready to serve Him.

Pastor Bill Martin at Community United Methodist Church invites the public to come hear The Steel Magnolias in concert, Wednesday evening, October 8th at 7 p.m.
