Ephesians 1:11-14 - "Hope in the Lottery or Hope in the Lord Jesus"

People buy lottery tickets hoping for what the world will give them.  Paul was trying to help the Church in Ephesus to understand what God would give them.
These verses are linked back to verse 3, in that they are speaking about spiritual blessings.  We don't have to stand in line at Circle K, just drop on our knees and ask God.  No one can claim to give us the numbers for the lottery that we would be a winner, but God promises if we ask forgiveness, we will receive.  We see bits and pieces that show us we are on the right track, but we can never see the full glorious plan of God.  We generally don't see God's plan as it happens.  What we will be doing in the future, we don't know.  God does not reveal the future to us.  God always has a reason for what he does, or does not do.

Paul, the 11, and the other men and women were the first who trusted in Christ.  We must have hope in something.  We must have trust in something.  In verse 13, we were included when God spoke of love and truth.  Did we have to buy a ticket to get into Church?  No.  We can hear something but we must be willing to believe and act on it or it means nothing.  God is asking when are we going to believe in him, and quit putting our hope and trust in other things.  Hear the word of God, believe the word of God, and act on it.

Proverbs 3:5  Isaiah 26:4  Romans 10:9

We win the spiritual lottery when we put our faith and trust in Jesus.  We did not have to pay for it because Jesus paid when he went on the cross.  Father, forgive ____ for he doesn't know what he is doing.  Jesus' hope - that we would hear with spiritual ears, believe and trust in him.  We win the lottery when we do this.  Our hope is you win God's lottery today.
