Ephesians 1:18-23 "So...Who Wants to Arm Wrestle With God?"

When boys get bored, they often arm wrestle each other.  But our human strength does not even compare to God's strength.  In review in Ephesians 1:15-18 Paul prayed to give us spiritual wisdom and insight to grow in knowledge of God; to be flooded with light to know and understand the things of God.  (See previous postings for more details).  The third part of Paul's prayer is to know the power of God that is available to us.

In Exodus 4:2, God did mighty and incredible things with Moses staff in convincing Pharaoh to let his people go. In Judges 15:15 Sampson picked up a jawbone of a donkey and killed 1,000 trained professional soldiers through the power of God.  In 1 Samuel 17:40 Daniel killed Goliath using a sling-shot and one smooth stone.  In Matthew 13:31 Jesus explains the mustard seed, one of the smallest of the garden seeds will grow the largest of all the garden plants.  This can compare with the tiniest of faith can do amazing things with the power of God.  In John 6::8-9, God's power uses 5 barley loves and 2 fish to feed thousands with some left over.

God can do great things with us if we believe.  When we believe, we receive grace and we will be with God forever.  By ourselves we can't do anything, but there is incredible power in the hands that believe.  If we believe, God will pour incredible power into us, to do incredible things.  What have we been saying we can't do?  With God's help, we can do!

The most powerful thing ever done was raising Jesus from the dead.  Why is the church so feeble?  And why is it not bursting at the seams?  What is holding us personally from allowing the power of God to work through us?  Those of us who believe are not living our lives like we believe.  Jesus was not raised from the dead for God.  Jesus was raised from the dead for us.  We don't have to wait for death, we can have this power today.  We just need to be like the disciples and ask Jesus to increase our faith in him.

We are 1 generation away from being a Godless nation.  We tend to blame the younger generation but it is our responsibility to live a life of God so they see him.

What if we turned as a nation to God each time the Nation had a problem, and show the world what a nation of God can do?  Raise your hand and ask Jesus to save you.
