Ephesians 2:1-5 "Choose Death or Choose Life - No Brainer!?"

The entire second chapter of Ephesians is on grace, and why his grace is so powerful.  John 3:16 explains that we have to choose to follow Jesus and believe.  Everyone in service this Sunday chose to be there.  Paul is writing Ephesians to those who have chosen to believe in Christ.  In Ephesians 1:13, Paul explained that we choose life over death by choosing to believe in Jesus.

How many times did we watch the Roadrunner and the Coyote cartoon and see the Coyote flattened, run over, etc and then get up and live?  This influences our life actions.  In verse three, Paul tells the Ephesians that they (and us) were objects of wrath in which we "use to" live.  Evil is in the air, and like air pollution we can't help but breath it in.  In church we are willing to pray with and for each other.  But how many of us would stop and pray for someone in the Safeway parking lot? (Evil in the air).

Our nature is to choose things that are not the best for us.  Just like the children this morning who were presented choices for snack.  They picked the snickers over the apple.  (Picked what they wanted, not what was good for them.)  Like everyone else, we were, by nature, objects of wrath.  But for his great love for us, God who is rich in mercy made us alive with Christ, even when we were dead in transgressions.  And every time we see a rainbow, we are reminded that God loves us.  We didn't deserve to have God's son come live with us on earth.  But because God loves us, Jesus died for us, making us spiritually alive.

By knowing Jesus we have more fun in our life, more pleasure in our life, and we are more pleasant to be around.  We have received Grace and have come to life.
