The Cross
The beautiful altar cross at the front of the sanctuary was crafted by Pastor Billy Martin. He used wood taken from the original bell tower during the renovation in 2010. The cross was hung above the altar and presented to the congregation on Easter morning, April 4, 2011. The cross was and is a welcome addition to the chancel.
The most familiar of all symbols for Christ is the cross. Protestants usually use the empty cross to emphasize the risen and victorious Christ. Some scholars have estimated that there are four hundred forms of the cross; approximately fifty of these are used in Christian symbolism. The most popular form of all crosses is the Latin cross; the form on which it is said our Lord was crusified. This design has the upper arm and the two side arms of equal length and the lower arm is twice as long.
